Terms and Conditions
Your chimney will be swept by a professional chimney sweep who will follow the HETAS code of practice.
On the visit we will only sweep your flue/chimney serving the appliance or opening. Your appliance/flue may not meet current standards or regulations, and further checks or investigation may be required to confirm its safety and compliance to Building Regulations. The responsibility for ensuring compliance rests with the people/person who has conducted work on your chimney and installed the appliance and/or flue. If you have received a certificate of compliance it is not a complete guarantee of compliance with current standards and Building Regulations.
All services are carried out in good faith. Visual inspections are carried out of the appliance and chimney, but due to to the concealed nature of chimneys and associated appliances, information should not be relied upon as a guarantee that the appliance and/or chimney are safe and/or free of faults or issues related to age, misuse or poor installation. There are various levels of inspection services offered at additional cost should concerns be raised.
The chimney sweep will assume unless otherwise told by the homeowner or person allowing entry into the property that the appliance is correctly and safely installed and is in a fit state to be swept. There are various levels of inspection services offered at additional cost should concerns be raised.
Internal fire/appliance parts are classed as consumable items. Boards/firebricks are made of porous or brittle material, that is fragile and becomes more brittle over time as they wear. On most models these need to be removed to access flue ways. Other internal parts are subject to wear and tear, heat exposure, moisture and rust, these may also fail over time. We will not be held responsible for breakages to any of the internal parts of your fire.
For a chimney, flue appliance and any component used in the installation to be considered fit for use, it much be in such condition that it can be safely cleaned and evaluated. If damage is caused during sweeping, this will be caused by an underlying fault which has been exposed by the sweeping process. The sweep will not be liable or responsible for any damage or fault caused by the sweeping process.
All valuable or breakable items should be removed from the mantle, hearth and fireplace by the customer. We will not be held responsible for breakages that occur due to items being left in place. Clean washing, or items that may mark easily should be removed from the entire route into the property (from point of entrance to location of chimney/flue to be swept). When sweeping a flue, soot can be pushed out of the pot and/or cowl, so it is advisable that external items that may mark easily should also be removed (eg. Clean washing on the line.)
The customer should ensure there is no hot fuel or hot embers left in the fire box or fire grate. Damage can occur to our equipment if there are hot embers, the customer may be held liable for damage caused.
We will:
Use indoor shoe protection, protect your floor with a floor runner and dust sheet, protect your hearth using a hearth sheet, and use any of the HETAS recommended protection methods to ensure your room is protected to the best of our ability. An industrial hoover will be used.
